The Corona flip out.  I hope this article will allow you to take a deep breath, reflect, and think.

First off, we all need to follow through with some common sense self-protection actions.  Follow proper hygiene by washing your hands often and covering your face if you sneeze.

If you are elderly, stay away from large gatherings of people.

If you feel ill and have a temperature, do not go to work or out in public; stay home and follow your Doctor’s instructions until you feel better.

The Corona virus is another version of the flu.  Yeah but they are saying that the death rate of the Corona is higher than the flu.  For most diseases that is the case until more people contract the virus and recover from it.  Unfortunately, this virus is much like others in that it is most fatal to the old and others with weakened immune systems.  If you believe the news, no one under 50 has died from the Corona virus.

The news media and social media has got people freaking out.  There is no need to hoard food, paper towels, or toilet paper.  There is plenty for everyone, if everyone will just buy what they normally buy.  Take it easy.

Perspective is something we all need from time to time so please allow me to share some with you.  Back in 2009 we had a pandemic and a health emergency.  Do you remember it?  Vaguely you might once you hear the name of the virus which was the Swine Flu or its technical name the H1N1 virus.  It started in 2009 and went into 2010.   The media barely covered it.  There was no mass hysteria as there is now.  In March 2010 the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated that about 59 million Americans contracted the H1N1 virus, 265,000 were hospitalized as a result, and 12,000 died.  Things have been done for the Corona virus that were not done in 2009.  Perhaps we learned from the H1N1 and that would be a good thing.  Travel bans and communicating the existence of the Corona are all good things.  Whipping people into hysteria is not good.

I am not going to politicize this article I’ll let you form your own theories on what is different between then and now.

Again the most important thing we all can do is take care of ourselves and others by using good hygiene and think about others when shopping by purchasing what you normally purchase.

This to shall pass.
